Which Products Will Be Announced?

As predicted, Samsung’s August 10 Unpacked event unveiled the Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 phones, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Buds Pro 2.

Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 Phones

The premium Z Fold 4 phone features a slimmer hinge with a more robust mechanism than its predecessor. Samsung says it's the lightest one yet. Its primary camera has a 3X telephoto lens compared to the Z Fold 3's 2X. Samsung also more seamlessly integrated the under-display selfie camera.

The phone has a redesigned app dock at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to switch between apps.

The Z Flip 4 has a redesigned, lighter-weight aluminum hinge. Its cameras are the same as the Z Flip 3 (12-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel ultrawide.)

The Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 benefit from software upgrades that improve low-light photography (nicknamed nightography).

More apps now work in Flex mode, which splits the screen when you fold the phone at a right angle. For example, you could have a video call on one screen and the associated presentation or chat on the other. You can also use the bottom screen as a touchpad.

The Z Flip 4 starts at $999 (same as the Z Flip 3), while the Z Fold 4 starts at a whopping $1800.

Galaxy Watch 5

The latest Galaxy Watch features subtle design enhancements so that more sensors come in contact with your wrist for better readings. There's also a Google Assistant version just for Galaxy Watches, and soon, you'll be able to use Google Maps on your watch while leaving your phone behind.

Samsung says the Sapphire Crystal glass is 60% more resistant to scratches than the glass used on the Galaxy Watch 4.

Pricing starts at $279 for the 40mm model and $299 for the 44mm watch. LTE versions of the watch are $329 (40mm) and $349 (44mm).

Galaxy Buds Pro 2

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are 15% smaller than the Buds Pro and has a redesigned shape to prevent them from rotating in your ears. They also have richer sound and better noise canceling, Samsung says.

The Buds 2 Pro will sell on August 26 for $229.
